You what new citizens look for they became citizen of Singapore. It is the Singapore Passport! This is something which old citizens already have. This gives them identity and prestige whenever they go anywhere in the world. Indeed it is one of most important common thread between old and new citizens. It is also menifestation of the fact that Singaporeans and Singapore are respected across the world!

We pay alot more for the singapore passport thn u think. Even so when a singaporean goes to USA or England, we are still seen under tinted glasses. In china, we are seen as no back bone. In japan, we are seen as bloody hell, another chinese. In taiwan, betrayer. In Asia pacific, money tree. Respect? I think it is the money lah. like wise, if Indonesian chinese come to ingapore, we also respect, cos got money. if not chinese, should be maids. The point is, got money, got respect, even if it fake respect.
