Here in Pakistan. The whole package costs only SGD 1,000 and you get the executive suite as well. However you have to brave 6 hours of power shut down, which occurs on the daily basis. I remember when our son was born at KKH it was quite smooth and hassle free process. Although I do agree that the rising cost of services in Singapore are becoming a bit too unbearable for people there in Singapore, we must admit that it is quite hassle free to live in Singapore. Just assume the problems people face in other countries, whether it is Western countries or other Asian countries. I believe that sometimes we do complain a bit too much.

Risk 6hr of shut down? electricity cost how much in singapore? charging by minute is too much. Good infastucture is for benifit of singaporean, not to suck singaporean’s blood. recent nets case pap make untill so big. duno isit smoke screen to divert attention?

Fahim. only 6 hours of shutdown man you’re lucky, in my country, the nurse has to pedal all day to generate electricity. And by nurse, i actually mean the drinks stall owner who has some spare time because we cant even afford nurses! And all this is not really in a hospital but in a small torn paper cup by the roadside. You folks in pakistan have got it good!

mrtan, based on what you are saying, it seems like a heaven here in Pakistan. Yet, before we complain alot, we Singaporeans should also keep in perspective that what is our national behavior. How many hours do we volenteer for the charity work and community service. Actions like these would automatically bring down the cost of services for the needy. On the other side how much are we willing to consume. Every other mother is willing to go for epidural injectation and so many mothers are willing to do the incision birth because it is too painful for them to give birth through normal process. Although it is not jusfiable to keep on increasing the cost of services, but low prices would lead to abuse by the consumers as it is affordable for them. I think what we need as a nation is more awareness and responsable behavior rather then sheer market driven approach to control the consumer behavior. This I think would lead to rich and more affluent sections of the society to take the undue advantage just because they can afford it.

By the way, if solar panel saga is really going to happen in singapore, the break even is like 2 to 3yrs after the implementation. After that, the garmen earns the money from electricity at zero cost from the sun and continueously dropping price from lead acid batteries(car batt). given tat the current technology, a solar panel life span is 20 to 23yrs and lead acid bateries at 1000+ time recharge. this means in 23yrs about 8 times change of batteries.
If this is going to happen, electricity cost is going to drop. Garmen can use the money to futher subsidise hospital. In the current technology, material cost keeps going down. I wonder why singapore cost of living keeps going up?
